Tractor
TN65
I have a TN65 with a Bush Hog FEL. I have a whine or hiss coming from the transmission. Its gets louder as you rev up the motor. Transmission Oil level is full but it is foaming up. Both loader and TPH work about as usual. Tractor has only 300 hours in it.
Tired to remove hyd filter today. Will need another wrench, man is it tight.
any suggestions?

What does your hydraulic oil look like? Is the oil level o.k.? If it is either too full or too low the pump will make some noise. Is the oil ever been changed? Did the noise came all of the sudded or was it a gradual thing?

At 300 hours the hydraulic filter needs to be changed. If it was changed at 50 hours as it should have been, it still should be changed now given your symptoms. If the tractor has a PowerShuttle transmission, change the transmission filter as well. Additionally, check to see that any remote valve levers are centered in the neutral position. Sounds to me as if it is either running over relief from a stroked remote valve or is cavitating from a plugged/damaged filter. Don't get excited about changing the hydraulic oil unless it is visibly contaminated.

I have checked all the valves and the hydralic oil looks clean. I will pick up new filters tomorrow.
Will post what happens...

I assume when you are stationary?

As soon as I crank up, it starts to make noise. Moving or still. It quiets down some when I engage the PTO but does not stop. As you work the FEL or TPH no change in noise...almost a clicking sound at times.
Oil is clear but still foaming up. Going out tonight to install new filter and check hose on the pickup line...

I just went through this myself. You are sucking air. In my case it was a hole in the rubber hose that connects the main 2" oil pipe to the oil filter bracket. You could be leaking there or anywhere on the suction side. The whine will go away when you fix the leak. I have a Bushog 2446 FEL and it took forever to build enough pressure to even operate it. sounds like your problem isn;t wuite so bad. The leack will have to be between the rear housing and the suction side of oil pump. good luck

Just changed the hydraulic filter, adjusted and tightened clamps on rubber pick up hose. No change.....However the noise is starting to sound more like a click coming from the transmission.
All hydraulics work without hesitation, no jerking or bouncing.
Something I have noticed.. Most if not all of the noise goes away when I engage the PTO. Is the PTO connected to the clutch??
Maybe I have been chasing the wrong thing.
