New Holland TN65
Hello All -

New to tractors, and even newer to this forum, so Hello! A while back my dad was mowing my pasture with my TN65 and dropped off in to the ditch burying the driver side down to the seat almost! Ever since we pulled it out it has not been able to key start. We were jumping it across the fuel pump to the starter which I am growing tired of. I looked underneath where the tractor was buried in the mud and cleaned all the wires and everything *appears* to be in good shape. Not sure what sensors would look like to get an idea if one of them needs to be fixed/replaced, but on the other side of the tractor i did notice a gray wire with red/black/white wires inside that appeared to be cut clean. Could have been to something auxillary the person who owned the tractor before me may have cut. Perhaps it snappeded when it went in the ditch but I feel like thats a long shot. Anybody had this happen? Does anybody know what sensor might be located under the driver side tire that would prevent the tractor from starting? Any info much appreciated need to disc the veggie garden asap, and don't even own a trailer large enough to tow this sucker to the shop. *Hoping* its gonna be an easy fix, but am stumped as of yet.

Thanks,
Ross

did you look to see that all levers are in neutral first ? Need some add'l info as to what you have looked at ? there are several safety devices in that circuit, have you used a multi meter to initiate the testing ?

I like what Grainger said. The pto lever is there I think . Be sure it is in the full off position.

Yes everything is in neutral. I have been running this tractor quite a few times since the incident, but would like to be able to start it with its key again. Wouldn't know where to begin with a multi-meter but willing to give it a shot with some guidance. Thanks

It might go to a kill switch under the seat. Best bet would be to trace the wire down and see where it goes.

I suggest you contact your dealer and see if they will give you a wiring diagram. I take it that when you turn the key nothing happens? If yes, as other have suggested it is most likely a safety switch problem. Most tractors it is the PTO is not off, someone is not in the seat and the gear shift is not in neutral. I guessing the gear shift level is on the driver side and since that is the side that ended up in the ditch I would start there to see if the switch is working.

Yes no sound when the key turns. With this seat sensor, what exactly am I looking for? There are several wire harnesses right behind the drivers side wheel that all appear to be in ok shape. Cleaned a lot of dirt and debris out but disconnected all the wires, cleaned them, and put them back together. What does this "sensor" look like? And is it something I could get to without taking the wheel off? I tested the two wires that appeared to be cut and got nothing on my voltage meter. I found the other end of the wire with the red/white/black cut wire and put in the red and the black (there was only two wire holes in the other half) and no effect.

I would look in your operators manual and it should tell you in starting such things like, PTO off and in neutral. If there is no mention of operator needed to be in seat, than no need to check that. If a switch is there for the seat, it should be 2 wires running out from underneath the seat.

I found this New Holland parts site that may help locate the safety switches. Sorry but this is the most I can do to help you.
