Kubota L2800
My dealer wants $1,900 for topNtilt for my L2800 and that is way more than I want to spend on that. My L2800 does not have a loader or hoe or other hydraulic attachments but it still seems from reading the forums this can be done for half that. A local hydraulic shop just referred me to the Kubota dealer so that lead no where.

What have some of you got into your own TNT projects if you don't mind me asking??? Thanks

Well You have to realize what is involved if you have no rear remotes. Thats the worst part My two rear hyd remotes were $1500 . The cylinders and hoses are a nit after that. But see how you can get to $1900 really fast.
look to these guys for the cylinders Carter and Carter Machinery, Hay Equipment Headquarters
Little pricy but then you get what you pay for

Thanks for the comments, but please pardon my ignorance of hydraulic terms and equipment. I thought all that was needed was two cylinders, hoses, and control valves. What is a "rear remote"?

Rear remote is the control valve . They are usually unique to each brand and model. IF you have no hydraulics on the tractor at all then you need a way to get oil under pressure out to the cylinders. The most efficent way is to install rear remote valves ,asuming the tractor has a manifold ported to take them. If it does not it gets very complicated. But your dealer quoted $1900 sounds like the whole package. As you say cylinders, hoses and valves.

I understand completely and thank you for taking time to answer.

you must get the piece that mounts on the side of the tractor for the hydralic, from Kubota.. the rest you g can get anywhere... do you have your owners manual... page 36 ... bottom left diagram shows just a cover.. and top right diagram shows plat with threads... that is the plate you need from Kubota.. assuming yours is a HST model

It is a HST and I do have the manual. Thanks,

Now for the rear remotes. What do I look for and ask for when choosing the remotes. I think the cylinders are pretty easy to chose but it seems there is a variety of options when it comes to the valves. If anyone cares to chime in from here I will again appreciate that.

Once you know where to get your hydraulic flow from, and where to return it, it is pretty easy. I say that because I'm not familiar with your Kubota specifically.

The rear remotes are not necessarily mandatory to run the top link and side link. In other words, you could plumb them directly into the 2 spool valve (to run 2 double acting cylinders) without using rear remotes. However, there will be times when you want your valve to run other hydraulics so having the ability to quick connect or dis-connect will be a feature you definitely want. You should look at getting a 2 spool open center valve with or without a float feature that handles (matches) the hydraulic flow of your tractor. It can have a joystick or separate handles depending what you want.

Rear remotes are nothing more than quick couplers attached to a bulk head so you can plug other hydraulic devices into them. They are controlled and connected to your (new) 2 spool valve (for 2 SETS of rear remotes). You would have 2 sets, 1 in and 1 out each. You connect one set to your top link cylinder and the other set to your side link cylinder. When not using the top link or side link, you could plug something else into them.

That is also why I believe a double pilot operated check valve on the side or top link is a valuable asset. They are like what CCM has on their cylinders. One advantage of the dpocv is when you set your side link and then disconnect the hydraulic line from the rear remote, the side link should stay in that position until you re-connect it and move it. The disadvantage is you could not use a "float" position on a valve for a dpocv since it locks the cylinder in position.

You can get all your hydraulic stuff at Surplus Center or Discount Hydraulic Hose to make your own set up. But it would be worth a phone call to CCM to compare their pricing if you are interested in their dpocv cylinders. They also have the control valve with joystick, hoses and QC to operate the system. You would be installing their system yourself, just like if you were to choose your own system components. So it's worth the price comparison anyway.
On a side note, if you wanted a float for the top link and a dpocv for the side link, then buy their side link with dpocv and provide your own valve (with float feature) and top link cylinder.

Here is a link to CCM (previously posted) to their top and tilt system. CCM Top N Tilt

Here is a link to Surplus Center Hydraulics Surplus Center Hydraulics

And a link to Discount Hydraulic Hose Discount Hydraulic Hose

Hope that helps.

so your kubota puts out 2400 psi. pressure and has 7.0 gal per min flow rate
I would buy a 3 spool valve .... 1 for top..2 for tilt... 3 for what ever in case you get something that has a hydralic ram on it etc. back blade with swivel on it...so you need as a minunuim ...OPEN CENTER WITH POWER BEYOND + OVER 7 GAL OF FLOW AND A PRESSURE SETTING OF ABOUT 2400 psi most are preset around 1800-2000 that is good enough... hope this helps
