I couldn't serve, when I went in for the physical, a heart murmer kept me out. For those that served, you made this country what it is today, a free land. SALUTE.

I just lost an Uncle who was a Marine and snuck in the Marines at 15. Did his 4 years as a Marine, then served 4 years in the Army hitting all those beaches we read about. One heck of a kind man. I still miss you Lyod.

Cat, a great thought, but I think we are maybe getting Memorial Day confused with Veteran's Day. Memorial Day we honor and remember those who died defending our freedom, Veteran's Day we honor our living veterans, right? Anyway, yes, we are thankful for those who died defending our freedoms!

oh and, yes. As a Vietnam vet, I'm still dealing with all that mess and how we were treated. 9/11 changed me a lot. I've kind of come out of closet in a way since then. Hard to explain.
