......that is the question. Been thinking about upgrading to a CK30 in order to be more competetive in the "for hire" mowing and tractor work market out here. I own a CK20 ST now with several implements. Have mentioned it a few times to the wife but with no great discussions. The other day to my surprise, she asked if I wanted to go look at that "other" tractor? But being how it was late and I'd just gotten home from work I said no, maybe another day. So today I got off work "early" and called her to let her know, she was out running around town, then I asked if she wanted to meet me at the tractor place (kinda teasing) thinking she would say no! but she said sure! So being how I was alittle closer then she was, I was in total shock when I got there and found her there sitting on the CK30 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif She looked it over and I pointed out some things that I liked (seat, lift arms etc.) she looked up at the ROPS and said "I don't think it will fit in the garage..." (keep the CK20 in there) told her the ROPS would have to be folded down, her reply......"oh, OK".
So after a little more lookin' and sittin' she said..."you'd have to sell the "other" one 'cause I don't think you need two"! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
So here's the questions: Do I sell the "little guy" and go for it? or keep him and just do what jobs I can do?
And if I do put "him" up for sale, what would be a good asking price? It's a CK20ST w/loaded R4s; FEL 48" and 54" buckets and 127.5 hrs. as of now. Also have 52" Kioti mower; 54" Gearmore box scraper w/rippers; 47" Coroni flailmower and a 49" CCM gear drive tiller. He'll be a year old come this October.

This is surprisingly a hard one. Reason being, you're talking about selling an almost new tractor while new ones are out there being offered with good financing terms. You'll take quite a hit I'm afraid.
One tends to do better, believe it or not, selling an older tractor because new prices are so much higher. It's not unusual for a seller of an old tractor to actually receive the price that was originally paid, albeit not in corrected dollar value, but still a good deal.

I think you SHOULD sell the CK20 and go for the CK30 however.
I think you would do better in the for hire arena as you would have more power to deal with, could carry larger implements etc. The extras on the CK30 over the 20 make it quite a nice upgrade.

All that said, I personally feel that the tractor is well worth pricing it within a couple of thousand of a new tractor, but I'm not sure it can be sold there for the previously mentioned reasons.

As for the implements, I'm sure you'll want to upgrade to larger ones to fit the CK30's wider stance. Implements don't lose much value very quickly, and a knowledgeable buyer would probably be willing to pay close to what you paid for as they won't find new ones at a discount.

I think what you need to do is do realistically decide if you will make enough money with the CK30 to make up for a big hit on the sale of the CK20 because I believe it's possible that you'll lose a good deal on that sale.

Keep in mind what you're up against: good financing of a new unit with full warranty, not one that already has a year gone.

I know prices have increased a good bit since you bought, so maybe the hit won't be that bad. Maybe you could find a good buyer here on TBN.

Good luck
John

yes..................sell it. %80 of what you paid new is a fair deal for the seller and potential buyer. With just over 100 hours it virtually new. Just my .02 worth

Why not just trade the old tractor in on the new CK30? Should hold most of the purchase price on trade shouldn't it?
