Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrenders his 28,000 troops to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Virginia's Appomattox Court House. The American Civil War finally begins its end.

Yes, even though the surrender is considered to be the end, there still were several smaller battles that took place before word got to the field that it was officially over. Then there were also gorilla fighters that continued the fight. It took a while for everything to wind down and reconstruction to begin.

Interesting, I was just reading a Robert E. Lee quote in an article by retired Air Force Lt. Col. William Astore about how Trump is using drone strikes even more than Obama and whether American-style war hasn't become ever more cowardly. (His words, not mine)

Article paraphrases Lee:
"It is not well that war grows less terrible for us for we are growing much too fond of it."

Yep, LOTS of wars NEVER end.

Taking young men off the streets, brainwashing them and having them do the killing for the Industrial Military Complex isn't exactly nice or honourable either. I'm still waiting for the WMDs to be found! It's just amazing what a short memory the general public has.
