TODAYS SEAT TIME

Local Organic kiwifruit growers collect fish guts etc from the local fish processor and store it in large tanks. Don't know for how long but they sit out in the sunshine so would get warm. To spread it they transfer it to a trailer mounted large tank. The tank has a largish (2') opening on the top on the top and when they tow it down the road to the next orchard the contents slop over the top and onto the road. I wouldn't want to live near there. It was bad enough driving through there each day delivering the mail.

that sure looks like fun. Like having your own adult sandbox ;)

So true! I got a couple of more hours of seat time in on Saturday am. Almost done!

A neighbor of mine let me take a bunch of big boulders from his property so today I started in on a retaining wall project on the side of my yard. Took my L3901 and dug out an area to start laying a line of boulders. Above the rocks will be grass, below will be a crushed stone lower parking area for my trailer and tractor implements. Should be nice when it's all done.

I was able to get some cutting done on my upper section of my east field. What makes it the most difficult is that it's under shade all day long. The dew never totally dries off from day to day so it's always moist which makes it slick, combined with how steep it is (pics don't do it justice), it is really hard to handle.

Looking East:

Also looking East; This big pile of brush at 1-o'clock is actually a tree that fell about 30 years ago and nobody ever tended to cleaning it up.

Looking West:

Found a bunch of old logs that were grown over with thorns and brush at the eastern-most point:

I have a great place to dispose of those up on the hill...

Sysop, I feel your pain... When it comes to our WV hillsides, flatlanders aint got a clue of the magnitude of the grade we try to show in our pictures.

Cleaning edges is a time consuming and tedious task, but really makes the job look finished. Be safe...

Yea, and thanks. As an indicator of how steep it is, my dog typically likes to lay at my feet on the floor of the tractor and ride around napping while I work on such things. This part of the field is so steep he can't lay on the floor without sliding, so he doesn't like to ride along.

Some might say the dog has better sense than I do...

my seat time today was mostly waiting for the tractor trailer to arrive with my DR lawn vac. After the hurricane and raking over thirty piles of pine debris, and with the resulting seriously bad back I'm feeling at the moment, I knew I needed to up my leaf and lawn game. Gosh those front forks come in handy. And while I was waiting I got to watch the combine working right down the street.

Used the ratchet rake to smooth the lower driveway this afternoon. Was going to remove the gravel and relocate it to a new parking are near the well house, but realized it is so compacted into the ground that I would just end up digging a trench to get it out. So, I instead smoothed down the hump in the middle and left it to grow over. We no longer use this driveway that leads to the walkout basement side.

Then I sat my butt on the Husqy for a bit and mowed the side yard where we let the dogs out.

I rototilled up my gravel drive once by taking it easy with a big tiller. Was not hard and I don't think hard on the tiller. It worked great and I moved 400 ft of driveway.

I may consider that, sixdogs. Thanks. This one is a little over 200 feet. One of the other options we're considering is regrading the entire front of the property and just covering it with dirty to achieve a better slope on that side.
