I've got about 255 hrs on my 4wd 6000 ('02 model). I don't drive on the highway so won't have a problem there, but I've got a tad of toe-in that I'd like to correct. Owner's manual says ZERO Toe-in is correct. Over the last couple of weeks, I've taken the left and the right tie rod nuts off and tried to get the ball joints out so I can adjust the toe-in back to "straight ahead". No can do. Today, I used the FEL to raise the front off the ground, blocked up the axel, took the left front tire off (manual says adjust fron the left side), loosened the tie rod nut on that side, and tried to lower the tractor down on a wooden block (on the tie rod to pop it loose. It appears to be pressed in....I can't get it loosen up. Can a dealer advise how to do this this?? I realize this is really a mechanical "how to" and not about Klingons or Star Trek, but could someone actually help??? BobG in VA

Bob;

Stop doing that.
You are putting on do load stress on the steering arm on the spindle when you set the tractor on the tie rod end. I am not sure about your 6000, but I would guess you do not have to remove the tie rod end from the spindle. It is a matter, normally of loosening the clamp on the tie rod and turning. The inner end should revolve and allow the out end to thread in/ or out. What ever direction needed to reduce toe in. Count the # of turns that you turn the rod so you always have a point to return to.Turn one or two turns and recheck toe. Finnally drive the tractor and recheck again. Yes the tie rod end is press into the spindle and normally requires a tool to remove ( pickle fork). It only needs to be removed upon rerair or replacement.

Chandler, appreciate the response, but you probably haven't seen an 00 series set up. Only way (it appears) that one could do what you suggest is to take the whole front axle off from the engine compartment. The tie rod is a single rod that is shaped like a recurve bow. It will NOT ROTATE around its axis inside the tractor. One must take the ball joint loose to adjust (or I'm absolutely 180 degrees off base). Yes I've got the ball joint separator but don't want to ruin the rubber bladder on the joint. Not sure it would fit anyway as the top part is quite bulbous. BobG in VA

Bob;

Yup; I looked at my 7520 manual and now that you point it out I see the bow. My tractor is at the dealer at the time for a new turbo and I cannot look to see what other options are available.

What my dad taught me was two hammers; one opposite to the other across the spindle end where the tie rod end goes thru.hold one against the steering arm and rap the arm across from that hammer with the second one. That is a tapered fit between the steering arm and tie rod end. Once you break the fit loose it will come out. A little push up pressure from the bottom is ok also.

Hammers are great tools if and when used with discretion. Chandler

Ok, any dealers out there??? Still would like to get an answer. Service Manual is totally silent on this. Operators manual says to keep is straight. How does one go about it? BobG in VA

Have you tried PMing Musa Marketing? He should be able to put you in touch with someone in tech support. Mine's out a little too I just haven't worried too much about it, but I'd like to know how to fix it if I decide to. I'll ask the dealer about it next trip!

if you can get one tie rod end off thats all you need, you can just turn that end to get all you need. My bar on my 6000 was actually on wrong, stuck out in front of the tractor instead of being tucked in by the axle, so i removed both ends and put it back in right. the way i found this out the bar got bent very bad, went and looked at the dealer, and mine was different than every one on the lot, but just beat on the tie rod end and if that will not work get a pickle fork they are cheap. hope all this rambling on helps

Loosen the nut on the tapered ball joint almost all the way off. Then put a prybar over the axil and under the tie rod and put up pressure on the tie rod. Preferably have someone else do the prybar operation. Last using a big ballpein hammer pound the edge of the steering arm where the tapered ball joint goes through. Hit it hard and it should pop loose. Good luck with it.
