Over and over thebuilding contractor makes excuses for not getting at my garage. I go away for nearly a month at a time and don稚 have a lot of time. Normally when my father was alive we’d do any carpentry ourselves, albeit rough and with rough lumber. I moved closer to civilization and itç—´ all proper building materials.

On to my question. I have tongue and groove aspenite or chipboard to sheep roof in , the trusses are on and the 1.5” eve or face board is nailed on . With a groove on one end, tongue On the other, sheeting, how do I flush the edge up onthe eve board properly ? There’s either going to be a groove over the facia board or tongue.

If the fascia board is already on I would also consider a "drip strip" (this keeps water off the fascia)...hold the sheathing flush or just a hair back from the strip edge...do this by chalking a line to hold the top of the first course to...
This gives a solid substrate to nail the metal eaves drip to...

A drip strip also makes it easier if a gutter is going to be attached...

It took my Dad two years to build this modest weekend house. Every weekend my Dad came up, the contractor had done nothing. Some Rich, big doctors house was more important. I never, ever hire anyone unless I am there to supervise.

Rip the tongue off.. Then proceed from there.

However, is your tongue and groove just for interior appearance and there will be other sheeting/insulation on top?

I would never just use tongue and groove and then roofing. The expansion and contraction will play havoc on your roof, either shingles or metal. You want whatever your roof is fastened to to have large surface area so minimal movement of the fasteners.

Gotcha, I thought you were using 1x6 single boards. Yea if your using tongue and groove sheets, either rip off before going up or chalk line after and rip off.

Ok. I’ll rip. Nails good for that? I was going to use 2.5” but friend said he’d screw
