Spiral galvanized nails would be best as they hold the best in shear, which sheeting provides, racking or shear strength.

Screws are good to get the sheet in place and down where you want it, then nail. However, lately I have been using 2 1/2 coated staples to fasten sheet goods. Some say the shear resistance is not as good, but the coated staples and the shear volume of staples I use, I have had no issues.

Not sure where you're building but in US coastal regions staples are not allowed for roof sheathing and there are strict nailing schedules required...

Oh and metal roof after do not sure the type of drip strip so I知 looking into. But the strip we used in the past is sort of what got me thinking about which edge of the 4 by 8 sheets to install

A metal roof requires air to flow just under the metal... if it is put on a solid roof without air, it will rust out very quickly..
normally a metal roof is put on slats..
