Tractor
kubota B7800, Kubota T1570
I mowed yesterday, and prior to mowing, I took the loader off of my B7800 in the grass. Well, after mowing I went to put the loader back on, and one of the support legs ended up sinking a little, which made the loader a little off. After hooking the hyd. lines up, I went to curl the bucket so the arms would grab the lower pins in the support bracket. I didn't realize that the left side missed the pin, and with moving the bucket, the support leg sunk in the dirt even more. To make a long story short, I ended up creasing the hood of my tractor with the bar that goes across to each side of the loader. I did use a rubber mallet to get 90% of the crease out, but now both edges of the hood have dents to remind me of my stupid mistake. I know it's only a tractor, but I do baby my equipment, (wash, wax, etc.). Now It's got some battle scars. Guess it's a real tractor now, but this really makes me sick. Anyone have a B7800 hood for sale? (without dents)
Take care, everyone.

Sorry to hear about your incident. If you got most of the dent out, it could probably be saved by a bodyman...... hopefully cheaper than a new one?

Buy a new one for show and work the old one on rough jobs they ain't that hard to change out. Get over it... until you up set one in a river you haven't been stupid.

That's the reason I spent $100 and put in a small cement pad to put the loader on when I take it off. I figured that was cheaper than replacing sheet metal.

A couple of sidewalk blocks would work well.:D :D For the loader removal/replacement that is.:D

It ain't serious cause the tractor operation isn't affected. Just gives that experienced look.:D :D :D

Mine came pre-dented just like you described when I bought it used. Tractors weren't made to be pretty IMO unless you plan to sell it someday. I use mine, and try to keep it in good mechanical condition. Dirt and dings are part of the game.

The battle scars will make it look manlier. You just have to think of a better story to go along with it - something that will make you look like a real hero!!!

Six guys tried to tractor-jack you in the field, but you weren't going to give up your pride and joy, so you jumped on the hood and started swinging a chain over your head to keep them all back. Your boots dented the hood, but you saved the tractor.

Yea, yea, that's it! I better get down to the barn and hop up on the hood to make some real boot prints on it. Kind of make the story more believable.
But really, I spoke with the dealer today, and he has a new hood sitting around his shop, and I was told I could get it for $150.00. Now I have to decide if it's that important to me or not.

I set a cardboard box on my hood and drove a ways with it and it left the imprint of the courogations in the paint. Every time I got on the tractor it mocked me. Finally I took it to the neighbor who is good at that kind of stuff and he buffed it out for me. I am glad I did.

That's the reason I've never bought a new tractor or a new truck.

Well, I did a similar thing with my B7800 and put a small ding in the front of my hood. It bothered me so much I bought another hood and plastic part for over $350. It was worth it to me.
My B7800 old hood is very nice and if you do the right things and can afford it, buy a new one. If not, I'll sell my dinged hood for $25 if you are near Columbus and I don't have to drive very far to meet. Hood has 10 hours on it and is mint other than the small and easily repairable ding. Photo available.

Best choice is buy the dealer's hood for $150. You need decals too for another $50? or so but I forget that price

someone I know used a hood to prop up his rifle. Yep, the scope was higher than the holes he shot thru the hood. :D

Most important, did he hit what he was aiming at?

Now! Now it's ready for serious use! :D

Replace it. If it bothers you enough to post the story, it's going to bother you until you swap it out. $150 is cheap piece of mind. The hood on my B7800 is dent free, but does have two prominent paint scars where one of my horses wanted to see what Kubota tasted like. Been there three years, and it just gives me a laugh when I see it.

Course, I'm not one of the 'wax the tractor' guys!:D
