2007 L3400 on Craigslist with FEL and backhoe. No hours given. Industrial type tires; Hydro - Asking price $11,000. Sounds way low to me, but I'm not really familiar with the used market. Opinions??

Thanks.

The usual scam has an unbelievably low price but this one is just realistic enough to make you pause for a moment and speculate that it might be legit. Either a very smart scammer, a unit that's really been trashed or someone's dumping assets prior to a divorce. :D Might even be a set up of some kind. There's an outside chance it's someone who just doesn't know the real value of what they are selling, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'm thinking anyone should exercise caution if they choose to look into it.

It is way low - normal price would be double that or better. If there is no craigslist e-mail link or phone number, and if the whole ad is nested in a big photo, it's bogus. Otherwise, I'd call on it. The scam postings are usually for really stupid numbers like $5k. Dust don't be disappointed if it is bogus.

Usually when one asks if it's "too good to be true", the answer is usually "yes".
These CL scams abound.

Can you meet the seller and the tractor for a inspection? Scammers operate by anonymity. Also, really, no spammers operate in the US. They usually operate from overseas locations where the long arm of the FBI can't reach. You'll quickly find all sorts of excuses offered when you try to set up a meeting.

For kicks... I will sometimes take a look on Craigslist for Kubotas... at least a third of the listings I report as spam...

Seems there is no shortage of tractor scam artists out there.

Also, remember to watch out for stolen equipment.

While searching other sources for a kubota, i have seen legit ads with contact info, realistic prices and photos. THEN, i have seen the exact same photos used in a cragslist post with a unbeleivable price, clearly the scammers heist legit photos (easy to do) and descriptions and repost on cragslist.

Caveat empor, buyer beware

Most good deals like that on CL are a scam. Best thing to do is tell the person that you want to see it. If they give you the run around, or tell you that it is in storage like one CL person did to me, it's definitely a scam. They'll say something like their husband died and they just want rid of it. I kept harassing the one person via email cause I knew it was a scam. I would ask them where it is in storage at, the company that is storing it, contact numbers, the whole thing. Another thing to note, most legit people selling something for that amount of money will usually only have a phone number listed as a contact instead of an email. Just my experiences. Be careful dealing with CL posters.

It's a shame people have to ruin a good thing...

Had a truck for sale once on Craigslist... it was like putting out the welcome mat for crooks and scam artists...

The first person that came by to look at it bought it... same day as I posted it.

Had so many people wanting to wire money for me to hold it on a $2500 truck...

Sad comment on the times... but it is reality.

Early on I followed up on a Deere for sale about 30 minutes from here... the guy said he was in the service and had it stored half way across the country... told him too bad because I had the cash in hand and would buy it on the spot... just to yank his chain.
