I have been lurking here for a while, and finally decided to join. I have learned a lot of great information here. I still can not decide which tractor I want though. I am looking in the 40 hp range, and there are way too many choices. I have a good Kubota dealer about 20 min from home and a good JD dealer about 30 min away. The decision has come down to these two due to dealer representation in my area. The tractor will be used for bush hogging, horse manure management, cleaning up some brush, and whatever else I can dream up. I need to stay under $25,000 with tractor, loader, and bush hog. That probably keeps me out of the Grand Ls and the 4x20s. I would like any input yall might have to help me out. I am not new to tractors, just never bought one myself. Unless you want to count my yanmar 155. It is a great lawn mower, just not my idea of a tractor. Sorry if that upsets anyone. I have been operating tractors since I could see over the hood of grandpa's 135 MF. So far this is what I have come up with. All are MFWD with loader and HST. Prices are comparable as well.

JD 4105
pros= loader joystick location
avaliability of 3rd function loader valve (I think)

cons= limited rear remotes (without adding to the power beyond)

Kub Lxx00 or MX
pros= I like the operator station better
more rear remotes avaliable

cons= loader joystick location
no 3rd function loader valve avaliable

I know everything that I don't like about each model can be changed with aftermarket parts except the loader controls on the Kubotas. I would rather have what I want when the tractor is purchased. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Raismmo:

A recent Kubota brochure shows that you can get a 3rd function loader joystick -for a grapple.

I stopped by a NH dealer and they do sell a similar joystick.

A Fasse aftermarket unit works fine on our Kubota L4310HST (except very slow below 10 deg. F), but I'd agree with you - better to have integrated by maker.

I know the 3rd function is avaliable on the L40s, but I can't find where it avaliable on the MX or the L. I really dislike the loader control placement on both these tractors as well. I know several people with these models and have operated them a little. I guess I have been spoiled with the controls placement I use to run for a living. I just don't like having to reach up next tho the steering wheel to operate the loader. I am not trying to bash Kubota at all. I really like their machines. If I could spend the money I buy an would M series Kubota, but the wife has set a limit. She thinks I already spend too much money.:D
