My project for this summer involves my new Plasma Torch and the back of a S-10 that my son left in the back yard. I will be cutting it in to little pieces and leaving it for the trash man to haul away 1 bag at time.
I also will be making silohette targets, any one have any suggestions?

Instead of the S10 going to a landfill, I'd sell it for scrap. You could still play with the cutter. For targets, the Bin Laden silohette is still my favorite.

Most wrecking yards will pick up vehicles and give you a couple of bucks for it. Years ago I got $40 for a piece of junk I had that was rusted out and didn't have a chance of ever running again. Quick, easy and cash for a decent meal.

The consumables to cut something like that into scrap would cost a bundle.

my favorite method for cutting up car bodys is my makita chopsaw that i fitted with a large shoe so it can be used as a giant abrasive skilsaw type saw, works faster and easier than a sawzall and cheaper than oxy acetylene or consumables for a plasma, of course ya gota watch out for the huge rooster tail of sparks it throws

A cutting torch would make mincemeat out of a pickup bed in no time. Ever think of selling it? Maybe someone could use it for a trailer body.

Ok fine. But he could _make_ something of it, or he could cut it up to small pieces & then sell it for scrap iron - gather 500# or more and get cash for it to support the hobby.

Spending money to cut it up, & them paying money to have iron burried in a landfill is a huge waste on several different levels.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
