Hey all,

I just set up my ballast box and I am curious if I have too much loaded. The label says 500# for B series and 300# for BX series.

I am concerned because my 3PH drifts over time. A few inches over an hour or two of use in the woods.

Do I have too much loaded?

I have no plans of actually placing this box on a scale.

Yes the dial to slow the 3PH is tight as can be to prevent slamming the ballast box into the ground.

I wish the base brackets where 3 inches taller so I didn't need the blocks.

Thanks in advance!

~Kevin

This could make a good contest, like the old "Guess how many jelly beans are in the jar?" game. I use 70# bags of tube sand in mine. Removable and no guesswork to figure out how much weight is in it.

Any tractor equipped with a non position control 3-point hitch will lose height over time, it is just the nature of the beast. My BX2660 does the same thing as did my BX2200 and our John Deere 2305. Just keep bumping it back up from time to time.

Can your 3pt pick it up? If it can't or seams like it struggles then I would say you have too much. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. If it feels too light then you may need to add more. I have about 1100lbs of cement in a 55 gallon drum. When I lift it up with the 3pt I can feel the back drop a little, the tires don't show any signs of being overloaded.

I agree w/Crazyal, if it lifts OK it isn't too heavy. Your front axle will thank you.

Weigh each of the rocks. Mark them with a magic marker. Pick the ones that add up to the weight you want.

I think your B2360 has the quarter inching three point like my B7800 does. These will drift down. With position control that other tractors (and some Kubota's) have the position control three point will not drift down. Not a fault of your tractor. It's the quarter inching feature of the tractor.

As mentioned twice, the quarter inching valve is going to go down over time with something on the 3 PH, there are threads on this and some like KUGator have installed check chains on their rotary cutters to maintain height.

Take out a few rocks so that the rock level is even with the box.

I know pics can be decieving, bit that there only looks like 500-600lbs.

I dont know why they say only 300lbs??? How would you ever run decient Bushhog, tiller, mower, etc with only a 300lb limit???

According to kubotas specs, you can lift 670lbs @ 24" back. So a little more since your load is close.

As others have mentioned, if it lifts it without really straining, no problems:thumbsup: It will make you FEL work MUCH nicer.
