Thanks for the words of encouragement! We have about 11 acres of undeveloped land... 6 in slightly rolling field and 5 in mildly sloping woods. The plan is to eventually build home, barn and shop out there, but the early chores involve turning what was overgrown field into turf/pasture, clearing numerous down trees from the woods, recovering about 1000 ft. of the field perimeter taken over by the woods and putting in a 700 ft. drive.

CEO has only half jokingly rationed farm time to 2hrs/week... the rest of the time is for the honey do list here at the house. How big a batwing do you think it would take to mow the 6 acres in an hour or less? (This is where I'd put one of those yellow smiley faces if I knew how to do it). That way I could have at least an hour a week for something else!

Bird, your posts have been an inspiration to me on this trek... thanks!

Regarding the upgrade, it turned out to be a bigger leap financially going from the 3010 to the 3710 than from the 3710 to the 4610, for comparable equipment. The bigger machine may be overkill for some of what I'll be doing, but at least it won't get used within an inch of its life either.

Evan,
I checked w/the dealer and a facelift is definitely in the works for this fall. He is not sure if the 4610 will be getting a facelift due to it being a newer design than the other L series tractors. Have you discussed w/your dealer as to how you'll route your quick disconnect couplings for your hyd. lines? Make sure they do that so as not to defeat the purpose of your quick attach bucket. I have heard of some routing not engineered in the best method and that would lead to BIG problems w/getting the lines sheared off.

Congratulations on your decision. I'm still in the process of researching and looking (half the fun /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif). Make sure you post some pictures when you get it!

If you go to FAQ's, you'll see how easy it is to include the smiley faces. Basically, you type the name of the face between these brackets [ name of face ], for example for a laughing face, you'd type ["laugh"]/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif without the quote marks. There's a whole list of faces you can use in FAQ's.

One sure thing... I will NEVER need any more tractor than that in this lifetime!

Be careful, grandad. I made the exact same statement when I got a computer with a 20MG hard drive a few years ago!

Congratulations and good luck with your new tractor. May you have many many safe years on it.

Any suggestions on where to route the lines? I think I have another week before the Long bucket arrives.
Thanks Again,
John

I bet you can't wait. I know I have trouble refraining from calling the dealer every day to get an update.

A PIX woould be very helpful.
Thanks,
John
