New Holland TC40D
After hanging out here absorbing all the great information I went ahead and ordered a TC40D. I have been in the shopping process for about 3 years now. I wanted to thank everbody participating in this forum for their help. The delivery is scheduled for tomorrow night, 31.6 hours from now. (but who's counting?). After wanting one for so long, the experience is a bit surreal. I am currently using a Farmall Super H and have been wanting to update for some time. I inherited the Farmall from my Grandfather and since it was the only tractor he bought brand new, it has special meaning to me and now with a new tractor to take on the chores, I hope to begin restoring the Super H. I even have the original owners manual with his signature in it accepting delivery.
I will be sure to post pictures of the delivery and begin contributing myself to this wonderful forum. Thanks again.
(only 31.55 hours to wait now!)

Way to go! I hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. We are now looking forward to your posts in the "New Holland OWNING" section.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's gonna be quite a step-up from your Farmall H, but I'm sure you will take to it like a duck to water. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks jinman. I printed off the post you made a while back detailing the removal and installation process of the 16LA loader. The dealer is going to go over everything with me again when he delivers the tractor but your pictures will come in handy when I go to remove it by myself. How often do you take you loader off? I had one dealer tell me that it wasn't good for the tractor to be taking the loader on and off.

What!? Huh!? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif!!!!!!

I guess I was REAL bad to my baby: took the loader off once yesterday and TWICE today /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I take the loader plus weights off every time I mow - takes 5 minutes. Puts less of a load on the engine/drivetrain when it is off, so how could it be bad? I lose about a tablespoon of hydraulic fluid, so maybe after a while it will get low...?

I would ask that dealer what he meant. That statement doesn't jive with my experience - so far..... Thanks to jinman's post, mounting and dismounting the loader is a breeze, so I do it all the time /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

wannbefarmer,
Welcome to the BLUE protion of TBN. I just took delivery of a TC18. I love it.
I went back and found jinman's picture tutorial, that was great. I haven't taken my loader off yet, it just got back from the dealer to correct what I feel was a defect in the alignment of the 12LA loader. The pictures show how it SHOULD come off, but mine wouldn't. I got home late tonight and just too danged tired to go out and play with it.

I think the dealer you talked to must have had several customers not skilled in removing the loader. Maybe they damaged something (that's always a possibility). The LA16/17 is a breeze as Mark says. The more you do it, the better you get at it. If you are mowing on slightly rough ground. Your loader will bounce around and your ride will be much rougher than if you remove the loader. I take mine off for field mowing and leave it on for clearing brush. Just follow the instructions in your Operator's Manual and use my photos. You'll soon be talking to that dealer and telling him how wrong he is. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
