This is a tool box I made for the tractor to keep the little items in. I made it as big as possible with out getting in the way. The cover has a lip on it to keep the water out.

wood. wood? WOOD? You made it out of wood?

Haha, I kid, I kid. That's a nice sized toolbox for a tractor, pretty big, actually!

Still, when you can buy a comparable plastic or metal box for under $20 that will never rot....

That is a very nice box. I like it. Custom made to use the space you had. Mine is wood too but not near as nice as yours.

I can't believe deezler said that. I don't believe he really means it.
IMO one of the problems today is that people don't recognize quality and craftmanship when they see it. They don't even know what it means. They would rather have an Asian piece of junk just because it is cheap and easy. Either plastic that gets brittle and cracks because of the sun and cold or paper thin steel that will dent and rust rust long before your nice wooden box even starts to deteriorate.

I couldn't help it. He pushed the wrong button.

Haha, sorry Gordon! I was indeed mostly kidding.

I didn't mean to denigrate the craftsmanship whatsoever. Looks like a very sturdy piece. I was just surprised to see someone actually go to that much trouble when the off-the-shelf stuff is so plentiful and cheap. But it's fun to design and build stuff, so, thumbs up all around.

I guess I just love making stuff that I use. It is way stronger than it needs to be. Let's see how long it lasts........

I would make a removeable top shelf for lynch pins. a bolt on fire ext. etc. With wood you can do a lot of cool things

Oh I new you were mostly kidding and not being critical. It is just that some things put me into a rant. Please don't hold it against me. I'm just not a big fan of plastic, is all.

kwg, when i first read this, i said the same thing . . .Wood? but for a different reason though. Seems our society has gone to the "plastics" age. Prefab stuff . . .ect, myself, i like wood, anything i can make out of wood is the "best" in my book. I had a wooden tool box on the front of my road trailer which lasted close to 20 years before i had to take it off. Not because it rotted, i hit it with the tractor loader and wrecked it. It then went in the furnace and provided a second purpose . . . .Heat! Try that with plastic or metal. Remember, wood is a renewable resource. Nice job! . . .John
