Grading Tool Box - Location and Inventory?

Guys - Are you able to keep a tool box on your Yanmar???

Where do you keep and it what do you keep in it. What size wrenches?


I did find the following from LMTC 2002 post

Rotella 15-40. When you CD arrives check the 2210INFO.pdf on it for fluid and filter information.

can of spray lithium grease, for spraying the linkages on the 3 pt lift and the eyes in the lift arms.
can of PB Blaster for anything metal that won't open or loosen.
hammer to persuade implements when hooking up.

I just have the original box on the transmission tunnel. The only tractor tool I've found useful to carry is the little wrench for the bleeder nuts on the fuel filter and pump inlet. I needed that the couple of times I ran it out of fuel and probably will again someday. Plus spare linch pins and clips for the implements.

In my case I also carry the wrenches to remove hydraulic hoses on the loader since I've torn them off in brush several times.

Anything else stays in the shop, for use there. I've never walked back to get a tractor tool aside from the first time on the items I mentioned.

Since I'm constantly tinkering with trees new and old in the orchard I always carry shovels, mattox, saw, pruner, and two 12 ft chains. I hung a couple of golf bags on the tractor to carry these. I don't think there is a better way to carry long handled tools, and it works fine for the chains, too.

I've never found a need for a hammer, and I'm not sure that's a good idea. I leave a 6ft 2x4 where the implements are parked. Any of the attachments for a tractor this size can be moved into place with it, and the backhoe additionally can be powered up to move itself the last inch into alignment.

California I like the golf bag . I will have to get me one to put a shovel in and some other things.

I have a narrow, watertight surplus ammo box bolted to the footrest on the clutch side. It was hard to find a flat spot to put it anywhere else. Contents will vary from person to person, but I could see keeping a pair of gloves, an adjustable wrench, maybe some chain in it.

I have a Ammo can bolted on my left fender. I cut the handle of a hammer to fit in the box, which some times comes in handy when changing attachmens, I keep a pair of channel locks & and a ajustable wrench. with gloves.

I simply bolt inexpensive plastic toolboxes on the fenders. One side carries a full set of wrenches, sockets and misc, the other carries chain, lifting equipment for the bucket and an array of snap pins and 3 pt. hitch jewelry.
