Used a cheap plastic ammo box, bottom reinforced with plywood inside and glued. L bracket and piece of 2x4 cut to fit underneath to support it if it ever wants to slide down. Obviously need to get shorter bolts and probably, when ambitious, will lower the whole thing a couple inches. The mount is sturdier than I expected, and since even a little lower, it will be hard to see into the box from the ground, likely, also when ambitious, replace with a lower, wider, metal box.
Still it's functional as is, and inboard enough to give it a chance of survival from a tree branch or whatever..
I had to add the $6 hand grip to the right side because, yes, the left side is the correct one for mounting and dismounting, and it's an "economy" tractor and that $6 part would have broke CNH's back, lol. The two rubber plugs were cheaper, I guess.
