so new here found out something cool i have not seen anyone ever post anywhere about the toolcat diff lock.
i recently went to my local dealer to buy what was needed for my front diff to ad a locker to it. i checked the sin and part numbers on the front and rear diff only to find out the part number is the same! . the parts counter at the bobcat dealer also confirmed that there is NO different part number for a front or rear complete differential assembly and put me onto the bobcat Tech phone number. that fellow "Larry" dig some digging and got back to me 2 days later to confirm the same thing dealer parts guy stated.
so pulled the 5600 into the garage and put it on jack stands. i pulled the plug out of the front diff and used a leakdown diesel ring tester with guage i modified to fill that sucker up with air to see if it would lock up. and it didn't, i put 160 psi of air in there and nothing. but it kept the air in there overnight, didnt lose a pound.
back to bobcat few days later getting filters ect and ordered a service shop manual.
well it came today and had confirmed what i have been suspecting. on page 40-20-20 of my manual it states in bold black
" NOTE: the front and rear axles are equipped
with a locking differential. The locking differential is only used in the rear axle. The disassembly of the both axles are the same."
further digging on page "A" of the hydraulic legend sheet states " item 23- differential lock valve 218-363 PSI"
well at a minimum 218 to engage , my compressor would have never moved that piston to put enough force on the locking coupler to lock that diff up.
going on holidays next week but when i get back i am going to buy
1- the rear diff-lock supply line and lock fitting
2- a "T" fitting ( for on the 12v diff solenoid)
3- a "3 way" toggle switch , ( so i can bypass the original hold down POS one that is in there and run a fused / keyed hot so i can engage , front/rear/both when i want in 2ws or 4ws as i am freaking tired of getting stuck in the muck!
i will post pics of the pages shortly.
