Hey there!!!
I have spent the last week reading through all the very informative info you folks have left on here. We own a fence business and are looking to expand our business with the ever so handy TC. I have recently found a 2003 "A" model and I want to know if anyone who owns one thinks it is underpowered, and if so is there anything I can do about it. This machine will have lots of hats to wear for our business and i want to make sure it can do everything we need. My biggest concern is power... Lifting pallets off trucks, digging, hauling dirt and concrete. We also have plenty of snow to move in South Dakota. Everyones input will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
D n A

The A series will have no problem with digging post holes or hauling stuff. You will probably be disappointed when used for heavy lifting or digging with its marginal roll-back strength. The C and D series had much greater roll-back force with the modification of the boom.

D n A,

I have a 2003 'A' model. I think it would do a good job for what you describe based upon my experience and background. Your expectations may be different based upon yours. I recommend you demo it if possible.

The lifting capabilities are pretty good for a 4500lb unit. I can pick up round bales of hay that have the rear tires bouncing off the ground as I move them. However, the roll back force on the 'A' and 'B' is a different story. With an attachment tilted all the way forward it has very limited power until it is tilted part way back. I don't think the rollback would be an issue with unloading pallets but it may come into play if you are loading trucks/trailers with material.

I've done some digging with mine and am happy with the performance. I think it is comparable to a 4500lb skid steer.

By hauling dirt and concrete you mean in the dumpbed I've loaded mine numerous times with dirt until it is was spilling off the sides and you don't really notice it's there. Dumping was not problem but the loads aren't that big either.

It is a good snow machine with a lot of options available.

If you do decide to purchase, get the serial number and call Bobcat customer service to find out if all the updates are completed.
