Toolcat f-series tank leak at hydraulic filter mounting bracket.

2011 5610 F-series. Has always had slow hydraulic leak that I was never able to track down, but figured it had to be from the tank somewhere near the sight glass. When filled near the top of the sight glass it would leak down slowly until at the bottom of the sight glass, but not much below..... Never got low enough to affect operation. Leak appeared to be to the right of the sight glass behind hydraulic filter. After performing 1000hr service leak has increased. Is not coming from filter. Pretty sure it is coming from tank where filter mounts. Looking at service manual, there are 2 nuts that are integrated into the tank for the filter housing to mount to (seems ridiculous to me to hang a metal bracket off of a plastic tank). I suspect that tightening the filter put stress on these nuts and opened the leak up a bit. Anyhow....not sure if it is going to leak down low enough to be an issue, but has me thinking about repairing the leak or replacing the tank.. Tank removal is not too, too bad from looking at service manual, but would prefer to fix leak as that would save money. Anyone have any experience in this area?

there is not much stick to polly but a swipe with a flame over the area does increase the adhesion, if its a split lots of body shops have plastic welding, worth a try

Do you know what kind of plastic the tank is? Polyethylene is my best guess from reading online but that is just from google and not bobcat specific.

I was able to "weld" my woodsplitter fuel tank after a squirrel chewed a hole in it. It was similar plastic as a antifreeze jug is, so that is what I used as filler rod, strips of AF jug. I used a soldering gun as my heat source to weld and build it up. It has held for several years now with no leaks. I figure that being I have a new tank in the shed helped the success of my weld job.

That's kind of funny. I was thinking of buying a new tank and then trying to fix the old one. Having nothing to lose might increase chances of success .

I did buy a new tank and may replace it at some point, but leak is high enough that is just leaks down to bottom of sight glass and functions just fine, so not really in a hurry. No leak once it got to that level.
