Diggin out a mean ole stump this weekend, and busted off a tooth on the BH. I'd been making real good progress when I caught a stubborn root. Crowding and curling in then SNAP.

So I put the busted off tooth under my pillow and went to sleep. When I woke up, I found that the tooth fairy left me a door stop, shaped just like the broken tooth. Beats the $.10 I got as a kid.

Pic attached.

Edski,

There have been a couple roports of broken Kubota backhoe teeth in the recent past. In case you have not seen them, here is a link:

Any Backhoe Dentists Out There?

I wonder if recent hoes from Kubota share some bad teeth. Plants4u posted some pictures of his replacement teeth, which he noted were rusty, while the remaining original tooth stays shiney. The teeth on my BL4690 buckets (same bucket at yours) are the rusty ones... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif ... in in almost three years of banging, prying, pushing and pulling have never failed...

Perhaps your dealer will put on his tooth fairy personalty if you ask him to... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Edski-

$0.10 for a tooth from the tooth fairy? You're really dating yourself there as that is what I used to get when I was a kid (the prize has gone up a couple of orders of magnitude, for my kids at least).

So what is the best way to resolve your situation? Will a repaired bucket tooth be as strong as a new one? How difficlult is it to find someone to do the work (I am obviously no welder, although I am good at using torches to make holes)?

A properly welded bucket tooth will be at least as strong as the original. But, the cost of a new tooth may be less than the cost of a proper weld.

That's just distubing...doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'll check out that thread you referenced, thanks.

Bonehead,
I'll replace, not repair. Already ordered one from the dealer (none in stock). I also busted off a zerk fitting on the FEL. No biggy.
With a little JB Weld the tooth will make a nice door stop for the shop.
Or maybe I'll wear it on a gold chain next time I go to the disco /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Highbeam,
I'm not a welder and my friends who are tend to drink all my beer. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'll buy the first tooth (a rusty one?), but if this continues will certainly consider welding.

There's nothing funnier than an American flag on a foreign car except one on a foreign tractor.
