The pin that holds the top link arm to my tractor appears bent.It will not come out. I'm sure with a little elbow grease and a punch it can be persuaded. My question, how could the pin get bent? I can't get the disk to level out front to back.It probably occurred when I was disking a field with my 5 foot WorkSaver disk.Has anyone had any problems with this disk?

I'm planning on replacing the toplink arm and the pin. JD quoted a price of $150.00 for the arm and $6.50 for the pin. I can buy a generic brand link arm for $20.00 or so. Will that be good enough,or should I go with the JD arm?

The pin has three holes where it can be inserted. Without reading the manual, which hole should it be in? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a generic toplink, and mu original deere one. I like both, but would not pay $150 to get another Deere one.

Unless I am mistaken, Ground engaging stuff should use the bottem holes, regular stuff the middle and the top for increased height...

I don't mean to dispute this but according to my 4410 manual and every tractor I have run the top most hole for the top link is for the heavyest loads and the bottom for the lightest loads.

I do agree that I would also buy an after market top link there is no reason to pay that much for the John Deere brand.

Hi mscheer,

I got a generic Indian (country, not brand or slang :p) toplink that is a lot beefier than the original Deere one... kind of a pain with the sliding "grab pin", but I broke one of the arms off the JD engaging the teeth on the box blade...

Don't pay that--just measure the barrel of the Deere and get an aftermarket one you like the looks of that matches! I eyeballed it and got one 2 inches shorter than the original:(. Heck take it in with you for that matter...

My 3x20 manual also calls for "light & medium loads in the bottom hole, medium & heavy draft loads in the middle hole, and very heavy loads in the top hole"... seems strange as theres the least metal to brace against pushing at the top, but thats what it says... maybe it's the angle of support the top hole lends to the lower arms  for "plow or ripper"

I still use the middle for everything I have, as they're all heavy.

ok, so i have been standing on my head while attaching things...

By bad, I got the holes inverted.

Use the top hole if you wanna pull a disk in a tractor jump...
