Am reading the manual for my new L3301. In the 3 pt hitch section it has a page showing the top link mounting holes and which ones to use with the implements.
It's showing the middle or lower one for disking and the lower one for bush hogging. Tractor came from dealer with bush hog hooked up and the top holes were used (for top pin).
I have never seen a tractor using any top link mounting holes except the top one.
I changed it around as the manual indicates.
How do you guys run 'em ?
Thanks, Pete:confused2:

For your tractor, the purpose of the different pin locations is how the hitch raises the implement. The lower the hole, the higher the implement will be raised. The top pin location basically raises the implement level, this would be more for grading purposes. The lower pin location raises the implement in an arc type motion and higher. This is what you would want for a bush hog, specially one with the swinging top link mount that allows the mower to fall even lower at the tail end when raised for transporting.

Experiment a little and see what actually happens when the hitch is up & down.

You'll get it figured out.

Perfect explanation.

Thanks for the explanation. I will note that my bush hog is raised quite high with the pin in the top position...very high . The tail wheel is way up in the air. I will look at it with the pin in the middle position later, as I am using the disk now. The disk comes way up in top or middle pin hole, guess it's higher in the middle hole. Thank you, Pete
