Since adding a quick hitch to my TC33DA, my top link now appears to be approx. 4-6 inches too long. I leaned the tower on my Woods shredder toward the rear, and am making out alright with that tool, but my box blade is very limited on any top link adjustment, meaning I shorten the top link till the two threaded parts are against each other. I measured an aftermarket top link, and found it to be the same length. Would like to purchase a shorter one, as cutting the threaded "screws", would not get me down to the proper length.
I imagine someone has encountered this problem and I'm anxious to hear how they conquered it. Did a search, but all I read was a mention of another person in the same situation, no solutions.

Thanks in advance.

Top links are not that expensive either :). You can get them at any TSC. They are also available through the internet.

Yup that is one solution, but for $20 my local dealer has numerous sizes in stock. I'll race, you set up the welder, cut it off, grind it, weld it together, grind it and paint it and I'lll drive to my dealer.
Who wins? :D

It would be much quicker to cut and weld for me than to go to a store that carries different size third arms for me.:D

I'd have to agree with Jerry.

My welder is already in my garage as well as my table and chop saw. I pretty much have to plug it in and open the garage door and then chop it 2x and then throw it in the vice and weld it up.. chip it then prime / paint.

That sounds like a 20 minute job to me.. I can't even be at my local farm supply store in 20 minutes... less if it didn't have to be pretty or painted...

Thanks for all the input;
I had thought about shortening my top link, but now knowing that shorter ones are available, will probably buy one, JUST IN CASE, I decide to remove the quick hitch.

Now I'm wondering if New Holland has any shorter top links;..... While I'm wishing, I noticed a TN55 at a farmer friend, which had the top link that didn't have a jam nut on it. The handle used to turn the adjusting gizmo folded over and sort of locked into position to prevent the link from getting out of adjustment. Finding one like that, in a shorter length would have me grinning like a possum eating briars.
