Can someone give me the web address of companies offering top/tilt kits? I'm ready to make box blade work easier.

Thank you

Ernie

The tractor manufactuer typically carries the exact fit for your tractor. Your local tractor dealer usually has all the supplies including top and tilt cylinders as well as valves and hydraulic hose. Gearmore sells TNT but you need to go to your dealer for that as they are strictly wholesale. Northern tool carries probably most of what you need although I'm not so crazy about their valves. I'd start with a dealer. If you have a Kubota, you could contact Carvers who advertises here. Thats where I got mine. RaT...

We are very interested in developing Top-N-Tilt systems, especially in conjuction with a quickhitch. We offer to make you the "test rabit", to do our best technically and to save you money. Working directly with end-users on new products has always helped to get the product right faster and operator friendly, is my experience.

We already sell cylinders to loader manufacturers in our Buy Smart Parts division and we do offer some hydraulic toplinks.
As always we can save money there for our customers, through our growing dealer network.

Since I could not find your email address, please contact me here, or through my email, or at First Choice direct, phone 888-945-3102.

Whatever you decide, enjoy it !

I have a New Holland TC29 and my dealer did not have a top link the correct length. The dealer only sells Tisco and they only have fully retracted lengths of either 15 inches or 20 inches and I need one that is 18 inches (measurements are from hole to hole in the eyelets). They all have 8 inches of travel. The 15 inch one would not extend out far enough to get the angles I want for grader blade, box blade, and rear scoop work. The 20 inch one won’t go short enough for my tiller, mowers, or pallet mover. Others have had the same length requirements and ordered a top link from Gearmore (they were able to order directly because there are no dealers in their area). I’m about to do the same thing. See

Northern Tools doesn’t have top link cylinders. They don’t have any cylinders with eyelets at both ends. They also don’t have side link cylinders, which need an eyelet at one end.

I’ve called several dealers of all brands of tractors and none of them had a top link cylinder the length I need. I’ll check into Carvers and First Choice as suggested, but I have a feeling I’ll run into the same thing.

I'd love to be a test rabbit, unfortunately, I don't dare spend any more money on tractor stuff untill some indoor projects are completed. Got to keep the better half happy /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Step one of your research should be a "top link length survey". Seems everyone's biggest complaint is finding one that fits. Ditto for the tilt cylinder.

Also, figure out how to add rear remotes when they aren't available from the Factory or are expensive. Per my owners manual. the small New Hollands (TC18, TC21D) can only have one "factory" remote. I'd only have one valve & have to choose between top and tilt.

I had the same problem, Danny. I used a Tisco cylinder and cut an inch from each end.

Thanks Bird, I hadn’t really considered that as an option because I didn’t think it would be possible to cut and weld on one without getting it too hot and damaging the seals. I can do enough welding to get by, but I’m not an expert, so I’m not sure I’d want to try that. But, since I can get a Tisco from my dealer for $100 less than the Gearmore (after paying the shipping), maybe I can find a welding shop that can do it for a reasonable price and still save quite a bit of money.

I guess I could also look into adding 3 inches to the 15 inch one, it might turn out to be cheaper to only have to modify one end of the cylinder.

When I said I cut an inch off each end, I should have said I had an inch cut off each end. I should have done it myself, but I just took it to a hydraulics place in town and let them do it. They did take the cylinder apart to do the cutting and welding so as to not take any chances of damaging the seals. And they charged $50 to do it, so like I said, I should have just done it myself.

Bird, I assume that voided the warranty? I just checked with my NH dealer who sells them and they said any modification would void the warranty. Also, my idea of adding 3 inches to the 15 inch one won't work, since I found out it only has a 5 inch stroke so it won't extend out enough for me. I guess I just need to bite the bullet and give Gearmore a call and spend the $300 (that’s with shipping) for their 18 inch one with an 8 inch stroke. The closest I could come was a place near here that could custom build one for $300 plus tax and they have never done one before, so I’ll go with the Gearmore experience.

Danny, I naturally assumed that would void the warranty, but I'm not sure you have any warranty with a Tisco product anyway; not a single piece of paper in the boxes when the parts were delivered to my dealer; no warranty, no instructions; nothing. So it's an alternative if you can't find anything else (and I couldn't at the time - my own fault of course), but I would not likely ever buy another Tisco product (or a Woods product since they own Tisco) even though my Top 'N Tilt worked fine when I got through with it.
