All the 3 Pt hitches I have seen with T & T have a hydraulic top cylinder and generally a right side link cylinder...

I am looking into adding T&T to my hitch...almost all the kits etc. state a "3 spool valve" is included....

if there are only two cylinders what is the need of the third valve?

example: Rankin Top & Tilt Kits

The third valve is for the implement if you need it, like angle on a blade or hydraulic rippers on a box blade or anything else that uses hydraulics.

It would be bad if you needed to give up one of the T's just to use your implement that benefits so much from it!

Of course!...for some reason I was thinking with grading attachments what else is there but "top and tilt"...but now I realize how useful that third spool could be...

"hydraulic rippers on a box blade"...that is the most interesting thing I have heard in a while...any plans to convert standard (manual) rippers to hydraulic?

Now I have to figure out what to do with the 2 spool valve I just bought (on e-bay cheap) or to add an additional 2 spool valve?

I would recommend a sectional control valve. That way you can just add more sections as needed. I pieced together a Prince SV sectional control valve off of eBay for a good price. I got two new in the box open center with float sections for $65 (for both not each) and that included shipping. By the time I located the inlet and outlet sections (also on eBay) I had just a little over $100 in the valve. This setup will let your system grow as your needs grow.

Rob (3RRL) added hydraulically operated rippers to his BB, if you search his name you should find the thread-It's not an easy project though!

Can't help with the valve decision...but I like the Prince "stack" valves because you can always add a section if you need it later...they don't come to cheap though.

more on the hydraulic scarifier/ripper concept...

after looking over the related threads and considering my needs...If I am going to be doing a lot of ripping...it is no big deal to set the teeth....

...BUT...what would really come in handy is a single tooth (that is easily seen from the seat) that can be lowered without getting off the tractor...

The road I maintain began as an old logging road along a mountain river...when the road was originally cut they used river gravel dug directly from the river so naturally there is still a lot of larger rocks under the later added crushed gravel...

Whenever I encounter a larger rock that is packed down with a box blade I have to get off the tractor...grab a mattock and dig it out to continue grading...this is by far the biggest problem I have maintaining the road...it caused me to get off the tractor more than anything else...
I do have a big giant tooth I can bolt to my FEL bucket but unless you have a spotter it is worthless...a hydraulic tooth on the box blade would be a huge labor saver...

Not sure if I will use one of the existing scarifier teeth or make a stand alone drop down ripper/sub-soiler type adaptation....but this project is a priority as soon as I have rear hydraulics...
