So I started a rebuild sometime ago on my Toro Proline mower which has a nice Kohler Command CH20 engine. The original problem was some gears on the camshaft broke off, everything else looks great inside and everything is in spec. One thing I forgot to do was mark the push rods or lifters as to which was intake or exhaust. The repair manual says to make sure that they go back in the same place. Does it just make more sense to get new ones? If so, would I need rocker arms and lifters as well? Hoping someone with some Kohler experience can chime in here. The manual says don't reuse bolts/screws etc... Is that really something I should be concerned about? All I know is I have heard from that Kohlers are temperamental on rebuilds.
