Toro Timecutter 17-42 PTO Removal

Hey Guys,

Been a while since I have posted ... I now have a Toro Timecutter 17-42 Zero Turn that our neighbors gave us an I am suspicious that the rings are shot. I need to take the motor off even if I replace it with new. I thought I would look at the old motor to see if it was serviceable, but can't figure out how to get the PTO off ... I have the big *** bolt out, but don't know how to proceed ... any advice?

I had just found that and the service manual is useful, but in the area where they are talking about the PTO, they just say take the bolt out and then remove the PTO ... not that simple in mine since it is probably stuck on there. I was wondering if there were any useful tricks for the stuborn PTO. Also after removing the bolt there is large "bolt" ... I put quotes around bolt because it only has 2 sides on it ... and it is not talked about in the service manual (e.g. no instructions to remove it or turn it) ...

Well I got the PTO out with the help of some penetrating oil, a large screw driver (pry bar) and a ball peen hammer (to jar it some). Now I have the motor off and was able to compression test the motor, but I am only getting 30 PSI. I am assuming that I have bad rings at this point ... the next challenge is to get the "drive" pulley off. It is stuck on too ... the service manual is silent on this.

Any advice here?
