This is true. 52 ft lbs in manual. In my opinion, they don't need to be that tight although I don't think there is any danger of stripping the threads if you do make it that tight. 25 0or 30 ft lbs should be plenty to keep it from coming loose.

Thanks for the input. I guess its good to know that the drain plug can be tightened down good without fearing stripping it out. I have read about other models of tractors drain plugs stripping out without much torque at all. No wonder why the drain plug was on so tight from the factory, I would guess they torqued it to the 52 ft lbs.
