Reed, after reading Dick's question I think the specs I quoted are relevant for YM1700 but I don't have the information to be certain.
Dick, thanks for the heads-up. That sent me into researching the manuals I have here.
I verified that the I & T book says YM195/engine 2T84A.
The Parts Catalog issued by Yanmar-USA for YM195/YM240 also says YM195/engine 2T84A. So that is what they call the smaller USA engine. This all seems strange, because the next larger size tractor YM240 (sold by Yanmar USA) and YM2000 (Japan) both share one engine, model 2TR20A-X.
Back in the I & T book, they list identical procedures, torque, etc for YM195 and YM240 so the difference between those engines seems to be only the displacement, and the YM240's water pump.
So to me it is not certain that Reed's YM 1700/2TR17-A engine is identical to the US YM195/2T84A engine but I think it is.
I looked in another source here, a YM195/YM240 USA Flat Rate Manual. It shows identical labor hours for YM195 or YM240 on all listed tasks, so a 2T84A engine must be pretty similar to a 2TR20A-X.
