How critical is it that you use torque specs when installing something like a lift cylinder to a lift housing that contains several o-rings? If you torque it too tight can it effect the o-rings or does it really matter?

Thanks

Basically, nice and snug so that it does not move.
The Oring is the seal and the lock nut prevents movement.

Are you talking about torquing the oring fitting or torquing the assembly together?

ditto what hooked said.

are we talking orf/orb fittings.. or a .. say.. adapter plate like a power beyond plate that may sandwich to a housing with oring connections, yet has bolts holding it to the casting?

big difference.

The lift cylinder that contains the piston bolts to the lift housing and there are a few o-rings in between these two. I think there are three bolts

You need to at least get in the ballpark but probably the most important thing is to torque them all evenly. When fasteners are all different torque, things tend to warp.
