My tractor list the total output as 13.3 gpm and I am toying with the idea of a woodsplitter that runs off the tractors hydralics but then see that only approx 8gpm is for the system ,and 5gpm is for the powersteering . My questions is when you are not moving the steering, do you get the whole 13.3gpm to use; or just the 8gpm period??? I have a nice 4 1/2" X24" HD tierod end cylinder that would make a beauty on a splitter but am now starting to wonder if I wouldnt be better off to go conventional and buy a 16gpm pump and a Honda engine???? A pto pump is way toooooo expensive and if the tractor only delivers 8gpm total you could watch a movie waiting for it to cycle that big clyinder???? Any experts out there on JD's pump systems???
I had a guy yesterday that seams to be an expert on ANY subject tell me that he was 99% sure that you get the 13.3 when at rest but he is wrong about 98% of the time on most other topics
