Anybody ever use one of these towed land levelers?

Recently had 6 acres of Louisiana pine forest cleared with an excavator, roots and all. Need to turn this into pasture, some areas are holding water, some are draining well. I think this might be the right tool for the job.

Hard to find info on these, seems like the big farms use them to level fields and get the water to do what they want.

Dadntron or something like that bought one similar but much heavier duty. He's already broke the draw bar on his 100hp Deere. For your needs, I would build or buy a large land plane or look for a ag style land plane. Just saw a 40' for 3-4K. Was a bad to bone

I don't know, but doesn't seem much different than a box blade with guide wheels (and you need rear hydraulics to run it).

The long, old style land planes seem to be replaced by the short scraper style with a laser leveling system. I often see the old long ones in the weeds when passing through gravity irrigated farmland.

With the non-rigid pin hitch joining the implement and tractor, the towed scraper is uncoupled from up and down movements of the pulling tractor. Big advantage. However, you lose maneuverability; no big deal in fields.

Every implement mounted on the Three Point Hitch forms a unit with the tractor. This transfers implement weight to the tractors front and rear tires, increasing tractor traction but the implement is going to bobble up and down as tractor tires move over irregular ground.

Thanks for the description of how these work. Been trying to figure out why its better than my box blade.

I do have hydraulic controls already, so no problem there.

Would love to have the laser guidance system, but having trouble finding one that isn't sold from India or China...

This is how we move water on farm fields...:)

I have one that I made from a three point box blade, works great as long as you don't need to carry the dirt from one location to another, if you need to do that a dirt pan is what you need.

If you have a 3 point box blade already then a 7' or 8' landplane would be a better choice. I have Topcon System Five laser leveling electronics, you might want to check that out. If you just want it smooth stick with the lpgs.
