I know it's doable, I've seen others. I just wasn't sure if there might be an existing product already available that we could weld onto the frame. I should probably be having my husband do this part of the research, I am SO not mechanically inclined!

Exactly like L39's dump truck setup, that's what I'm looking for. We dont want to modify the 5th wheel or get an adaptor for it, 90% of the usage for the flatbed will be with our baby Dodge, so a ball hitch is what we'd like to add to the T2.

cjtinkle,

All you need to do is get some 3/4" steel and weld it across your rear frame members then angle brace it back to the frame. Best bet is to allow a truck body company that puts dumpbeds, stake bodies, etc on bigger trucks do this. That way, you put the responsibility on them to "rate" the hitch to the specs you tell them you want. Then what they do is drill the pattern for the hitch you want into pintle plate for the height you want. Then they'll bolt the hitch to the pintle plate with 4 grade-8 bolts.

I'd suggest looking at "Buyers" or "Putnam" hitches. Nice and affordable.
