Towing Tractor

Not sure if i am posting on the correct title but i have a trailer i haul my Kubota L3940 HST on and i go by a uhaul place and we have all seen these trailers you drive up on and your front wheels sit in a formed dip your tires fit in and the back of your rear wheels are on the ground, Now is it possible to haul a tractor with one of these making sure you are in a neutral position? I really see no reason why you could not tow one like this? Am i missing something here?
Those trailers are for towong front wheel drive cars

Can you not rent a regular flat trailer so you can tow with all 4 wheels off the ground? A dolly poses risks which every poster here has warned about. Tractor rear wheels have no "controlled" suspension to correctly "absorb"

shocks from road dips & bumps. The rear

tires ARE the suspension!

Depending on the severity of these dips & bumps you run the very real risk of ending up with uncontrollable bouncing and a catastrophic accident.

On top of everything that has been mentioned I would say the weight distribution (rear end heavy) would make it sketchy and more importantly I would be scared to burn the transmission, when you haul a rear wheel drive truck you have to disconnect the drive shaft or apply the the truck U haul neutral function if not you burn the transmission, I would say the same thing apply.
That is because automatic transmissions no longer have a rear pump in them, quit using rear pumps in the late 50's or early 60's. Back then you could push start a car or truck with an automatic transmission.

Most if not all 4wd/AWD vehicles are not dolly towable, even if the can be flat towed. the transfer cases are not designed to deal with the difference in speed of one axle at zero and the other at what ever your tow speed is.

I would think it would be much better to put the rear tires on the dolly and pull backwards. might need to lock the steering but I doubt it (I probably would). It shouldn't be that hard to adapt the dolly so rear tires would stay in place. Not sure about how to handle transfer case but could check with Kubota. Should work well with 2WD.

This is a good discussion topic, makes one think. But it is a horrible thought for so many reasons most have already been stated. You state you have a trailer you already move between plots with the tractor on the trailer. So, I'm guessing this is just one of those "thought provoking" questions open for discussion. My two cents, don't try to haul your tractor on an auto dolly, it will get expensive quickly in many different ways.

Tieing down on a full trailer won't be much different, loading on a full trailer won't be much harder, full trailer will pull at full speed, full trailer has cheaper tires, full trailer won't ruin the tractor transmission, but full trailer takes up more storage room.

Based on pros and cons I'll take a full trailer.

I personally don't feel that the drive line in the transmission would take the speed. My tractor gets pretty noisy if I let it coast down a hill above 20 MPH. I do haul mine on a Trailer all the time and that is a much better option. Just be sure you have enough weight on the tow vehicle. I know from experience what can happen. I did not wreck but it was pretty scary for a few minutes. That was over 40 years ago and I still remember it well!!!

Nothing like an 8000# piece of equipment behind a 4500# pickup whipping you back and forth across the road to form indelible memories!! I once had a poorly designed swather trailer that would straighten out above 40mph. A grit your teeth and go for it deal.

I towed a tractor home about 5 miles once behind my pickup. My neighbour drove the truck and I was on the tractor. Let me tell you 15mph may feel like nothing to the guy in the truck but it is terrifying to the guy on the tractor with loose steering!
