I'm not knocking small tractors. I'm talking about actual toy tractors. I have a great memory of going with my Grandfather to grind feed. Right next door to the mill was a John Deere dealer. It had an old wooden store front with display windows, one of which was always full of the little JD tractors and implements. I never missed a chance to stare thru the window at those tractors. Never got one, but one christmas I did get a red generic tractor.
Back about the time I bought the TC29, I was reading a book on old Ford tractors, and I came across a picture of a toy Jubilee. The story was that it belonged to a woman whose father had bought a Jubilee new and the dealer had gave him a toy one to match. Not only was my dealer not so generous, of the toys for sale the closest thing to my tractor was the TC33. But I thought the idea was nice.
In a post on the Jubilee RobS mentioned getting a Franklin mint Jubilee for his wife. It got me wondering if anyone else had tried to get a toy to match their tractor, and how much success they had. I would be willing to bet there are some collectors out there too.
