Here is my latest basement shop creation. I needed a light duty winch to pull my submersible water well pump next time it goes out. The submersible pump is 150’ down there is a ¼” nylon rope tied to the pump that will be used to attach to the winch.
On the tractor hydraulic system I have an adjustable flow divider valve; with this I can control the flow to the motor. The Hydraulic motor is 15.25 cu/In per revolution and has 2540 lb/in of torque. ($25 eBay Special) If I set the flow to say 6 GPM the motor will turn @ ~ 90 RPM about one and a half revolutions for every second. The center of the cable hub on the winch is 2” diameter so the circumference is about 6” if my math is roughly correct then the cable speed would be about 54 feet per minuet before the cable wrap starts making the center of the hub a larger diameter increasing the speed.
The winch assembly slides into the TPH receiver hitch (also home made).
I will most likely use the winch for other tasks around the homestead. If I ever do any overhead lifting I will make sure I raise the TPH to it’s highest setting to avoid any supprises.
Any comments or constructive criticism are very welcome.
