Hi razbota, I have a 5' TR3 and like it. Type TR3 in for a search for other posts. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them or send me a PM.

We bought one last year, it is the one they call the 3 1/2 ft. model and the finish rake is 5' to cover the wheel tracks. We have been happy with it as a tool in our lawn seeding business. It seems like we have to make a slight adjustment on it on every yard that we prep(adjust 3rd link in or out-which raises or lowers the finish rake, adjust scarifiers up or down) but once we get it set right, it works like a charm. If it is not adjusted right, it is frustrating. This winter we added a hydraulic 3rd link to our tractor to make the adjustments quicker. I am looking forward to using it again this year. The last yard that we seeded last year was really compacted as the trucks had basically used the back yard as a road to get to a location that they were hauling fill. We did have to make a number of passes, but it made the yard loose enough to hydroseed in little time. We had used a pulverizer before-it worked well, but did not level as the TR3 does and took more passes. I have never used a harley rake and have had others tell me that once you use one of those, you would never use anything else. I guess at this time we do not have need to try anything else as the TR3 has worked well for us.

Hernando comparing the TR3 to a power rake is like comparing a Kioti to a Kubota. Is one better than the other?NO. It all depends on your needs and your ego(I'm sure I'll take a hit for that). I live in Connecticut where we have more than our fair share of New England potatos (rocks) growing. Is it as fast as a power rake? No. Is it faster than using a rake, box blade and pulverizer? Yes by far. The TR3 is all the implements in one and does all three functions in the same pass. The TR3 is built rock solid and quite heavy I have a 5' unit and it ways about 900 lbs, and yes the hyd. top link is a great advantage. For my landscaping business I use to sub all my raking to a friend of mine who has a NH skid steer w/a Harley rake. For raking, grading and seed bed on new lawn installs (and not comparing time) the TR3 does just as good of a job as the power rake. And at times I think the time savings come from his ability to spead a pile of screened top soil faster with his skid steer not the actual grading and raking. Although I think the TR3 loosens the soil deeper and grades faster. The power rake does a better job stripping off exsisting lawns for replanting. And the bottom line on speed is the ability of the operator to use thier equipment not always the equipment. Be carefull on spending big money to save time. If it takes alittle more time to complete a quality job with a hole lot less overhead it all averages out. And in the slow times your not trying to float expensive idle equipment.

You won't take a hit from me on the Kioti vs. Kubota...we pull our TR3 with a CK20HST!!!

Thanks, but although I own a Kioti and love it, I was just using the two as an exsample I have nothing against Kubotas or any other make. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh yeah? Tell me more. What size. Any special considerations to use it on the CK20? You know I have one, so give! John

KJ,
We have what the model that they call the 3 1/2 ft. It is called that because the scarifiers work 3 1/2 ft, but the finish rake behind them is 5'. In my opinion, it is the perfect combination of tractor and implement. Hook it up to the 3 pt and go. Small enough to get in a 10,000 sq. ft. yard and big enough to do the job in little time. If the ground has been compacted it is entertaining as it works the tractor pretty hard. The tractor will snort and bellar and smoke and even have a fair amount of wheel slip. It will just spin the rear wheels if not in 4x4. As I said in my earlier post, once we get it set, we think it does a great job of prepping for seeding.

Thanks for the reply. What kind of a price are we talking about for one that size? The Harley power rakes of any size seem to be a no go for a CK20 due to the lack of enough hydraulic flow. Not that I can afford one of those anyway! John
