I have a jd450c crawler and it's been sitting a while. The motor and hydraulics runs great, but the left chain is seized up in 2 spots. I'm guessing it's from setting for so long at the ends.
For the love of me, I can't get the pins to break loose and turn again. I've tried soaking, heat, and even 15 tons of down pressure with the 2 adjoining links blocked up. It won't break loose. Anyone else have any ideas? If not, can I replace the links that are seized or does the whole chain need replaced? It seems the plates and overall life of the chain are in good shape, but not these 2 links.

Also, would the 2 links be what are causing the track to come off? I normally check the tightness of it everyday, but my dad has ran it for around 20 hours and threw it twice and I've probably ran it over 40 and haven't threw it yet. I guess I should mention it also does not have the rock guards on the bottom on either side of this track. Just wondering if it is where the chain is seized or the rock guards that could be aiding in throwing the track off. Thanks in advance

Likely the chain is loose if kinked in two spots.. and gets thrown when backing up as the lower side will be very loose..

Surprised 60 hours of running hasn't loosened the pins.

A pic or two may help with some pointers.

I'm not sure if he's backing up when it throws. How can I tighten it anymore? I put grease in it til it can't pump anymore to try and get the kink out. I can post pictures when in a little bit when I'm around it.

My thought is you need more than 15 tons of force to break these pins free. Can you put these links in a 100 ton press at a heavy equipment repair shop?
Some repairs require larger tools than most of us have. Track repair is hard enough with the right tools and much harder without these tools. If the rest of the tracks and pins is good I would consider having a track shop make this repair and get an estimate.
