I had the day off today, so what better to do than to visit every dealership within 100 miles of me? Stopped at the Kubota dealer and this thing really caught my eye, never seen a utility tractor with tracks in person before. So I figured I'd snap a couple pictures for my picture loving friends here on TBN:thumbsup:

How practical really is a set up like this? I've really never seen any so how much would you benefit?

There was one just like that at a local dealer last year, but I think it was the 135 and I didn't have my camera with me, thanks for posting.

The farmer next to us uses almost all fully tracked Ag tractors. Years ago some farmers used those kind of tracks before 4WD became popular and now you rarely see them.

Do you know if it's a factory/dealer installed option of if it's an aftermarket kit installed by the dealer? I though it was pretty neat - really don't see any in these parts.

Kubota has the PowerKrawler based off the M8540 Narrow also for use in vineyards. I've never used one but the theory is the larger footprint will make things more stable, give better traction and not slide as easily on slippery conditions like slopes and mud.

The local dealer here had the narrow powerkrawler but I don't know if it sold locally or what happened. If the price was closer to the wheeled version I would be looking at one for my vineyard but its a rather spendy option and one I can't justify.

Did you happen to ask what the price was?

No I didn't, wish I had, I didn't want to lead the guy on that I was going to buy something that expensive. Looked all around it for a tag to just to make sure it wasn't listed out there but no luck:(

I tried pricing it on the Kubota site with the build my Kubota feature, but it wouldn't let me do it with the tracked models. I guess if you have to ask you can't afford it!

I wasn't sure, but has already been answered. South of here, the ground is really low and a lot of guys farm out beyond the levy on the Mississippi, so it might help there and unlike the dedicated track models, you might be abe to wheeled when needed.

I played around on the Kubota site and read the specification sheet on the 8540 crawler and it appears that the tracks are not interchangeable with tires. It did state the top speed was 13.2 mph. That's fast for a crawler.
