Does anyone have any experience w/ the tracks from this place? (I posted this on a skid steer forum, too, but thought maybe some tractor folks knew the company in general). They sure have an economical answer to a person who needs tracks on occasion, but I am wondering if the tracks will really hold up. Any experience w/ their products? Thanks. john Tractiontracks.com

Jimi: What did you pay for your tracks, and how big of a machine? My dealer apparently won't sell tracks, as per my phone call there to one gent, anyway. This morning, Grouser (allegedly) called me to talk tracks. He said "Go to your dealer. We make the tracks, by contract, for JD and they are listed in the parts manuals. No problems w/ extra wear and tear/warranty issues." Interesting. If my local dealer really won't sell any, I will have to go elsewhere. The Grousers appear to be pretty skookum stuff. Thnx. j

I have a Case 1845 C skidsteer with the 12" wide tires and my tracks came with my machine, I looked them up and without shipping they were around $3,500 give or take
I have some pictures of it in one of my galleries, It weighs about 6,500 pounds
We have a member here that deals in tracks, I'll find his name for you brb
I have it

Jimi: Thanks for the link. I have been emailing w/ Ken today. His price is about what McClaren's, etc, are running; all are a bit over $3K. I don't hold that against anyone, either; there is a lot of material and work in the "normal" tracks, and they sure do look like a tank track. The ones at TractionTracks are cheaper for a reason; they are simpler. A gent there indicated having 700 hrs on their test pair, and still going strong. If they last as his test pair apparently have, they may just do me for several years. Too, I am sure that one old man can more easily handle the chain tracks vs the pin/pad types. Unless I hear from folks that say "Shy away", I may well give a pair of chain tracks a test run.

I watched the videos and I have the same machine and Grouser tracks are allot more than a metal band with chain welded together, dont get me wrong for the price they do the job, mine have interchangeable everything
I wonder if a local welder could make you a set of them

Good luck
:)

I have considered making my own, but it could turn into a can of worms. Often there is more R&D in "simple" projects than meets the eye. Too, the TTracks apparently use a Manganese alloy grade 80 chain, which is pretty spendy. TT claims that their 7/16 M alloy chains are stronger/last longer than the 1/2" they used to use (grade 70, I believe). Buying in small quantities may be prohibitively expensive. There is also the issue of which rod to run, whether or not to heat treat or anneal the welded chain links, etc. For the price, I think I'll spend my time moving someone's dirt.... I hope to hear from someone who has run these puppies. That would be nice (and not the owner's bro, either....) Otherwise, I don't see how a person could go wrong w/ Grousers, McClaren's, Loegering, etc.

For what it is worth, I have a contractor I work with that has these on his machine. I haven't asked him directly about them, but he has been using them for a few years and he hasn't thrown a hammer at them while I was around.

Kays: Great info. If you get a chance, ask him about them; longevity, bite, etc. Appreciated. john
