Kubota L39
I'm brand, spanking new to the tractor world but decided that a loader and backhoe would save my retired back and assist in reducing the sweat-induced discomfort related to a pick, shovel and wheelbarrow. With that, the used Kubota L39 will be arriving today. So from past experience, what's the best education? A friend with a similar tractor, youtube, or the user manuals? I know that I'm likely to do a little damage along the learning curve, but would like to reduce it as much as possible.

Welcome. Asking questions and reading threads on here would be a good start. There are alot of bad examples on youtube. I suggest reading the owners manual a couple times then ask any questions on here. If you have a friend with tractors that would also be a valuable resource. If nothing else, take your time in an open area. Remember, the tractor only does what YOU tell it to but it won't care if something is in the way.

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Take your time. Read the owner's manual front-to-back, lube/grease everything, maintain it regularly (according to the manual) and then re-read the owner's manual front-to-back.

Keep your loads as low to the ground as possible.

Enjoy.

Ditto what the others said, and remember, dig and pile dirt with the hoe, then scoop stockpiled dirt with the loader. Loaders dont dig well.

I'm in your boat. I just took delivery of a Mahindra 1538 TLB today.
There is a lot of good info on this site along with lots of very helpful folks.
I plan to read the manuals and reread the manuals but I think after that, it's mostly plant your butt in the seat and teach yourself for the most part. What they call OJT or on the job training. From my experience, it'll be just like learning anything else, like learning to drive a car or fly, they can only teach you enough so you probably won't kill yourself or anyone else while you teach yourself until most of it becomes second nature. That can only come by spending the time doing it.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Kubota!

Reading and posting questions in our Kubota section of the forum is a good place to start. :)

Here's my 2 cents:
Read the manual (at least twice), keep the RPMs low for awhile (slows everything down a bit), wear your freaking seatbelt (assuming the ROPS has not been altered), and keep kids/pets/wives away from it while you are on it. Then use it a lot. (and try not to let the wife see the smile on your face). :drink:
