Tractor all back together, Thanks er\'one

Tractor all back together and working fine, thanks for all the feedback, and John for the diagram. Actually, the worse part was the snap ring that holds the axle in the case, man that is one stout clip!! All in all, actual work time this time around was maybe 3 hours, rain made it real difficult. If I ever had to do it again, I bet I could do it in an hour and a half. If any of you ever have to change the housing or remove the axle, better make sure you have a "Super Heavy Duty" snap ring retractor. I purchased 2 different ones, and the larger of the two was barely able to spread it. I finally got it on the groove on one side and partially on the spline, from there I was able to work it back into the groove, WHEW!! Im not kidding, it is STOUT!!

There is also a free floating spline under the housing, I'd reccomend, try your best to keep it in the machine if you pull the housing, I had a heck of time getting this lined up and in all the way. It appears it only goes one way.

For now, I refiltered the Hydro, looked pretty good after I got done, Monday I'll go get new and change it again.

Now I just need a reliable turnbuckle, and I wish I knew how to check the hydraulic pressure, and adjust it. If I have a full bucket of dirt, it don't want to go high enough to dump in my truck.

Me and you and a dog named Boo, back on the road again,,,,, /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ed, Glad you got it back together. Maybe you can look at a different make of tractor and get the turnbuckle off one of those. I have never broken a turnbuckle on any off my tractors, and thats with alot of abuse! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So it must just be that part is whats wrong. Maybe try one off of a Kubota. We won't tell! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Tractor all back together, Thanks er\'one

HEhehehehehe, well, I might try "ONE MORE" JD turnbuckle and spend a lot of time thinking about it. Plus Im gonna drop the broken one off at a machine shop and see if the can make a steel bolt for the bottom section. Im just afraid if this is made so strong as not to break, is something else gonna break? I mea, there are other guys that flat admit they beat the heck outa their 4300-4200's, and dont break anything!!
I admit, I work this machine, and sometimes I work it hard, but I dont ram it into trees, I dont hound dog it, I just get the job done, "in between trips to the shop" and Im tottaly at a loss. Tractor pics, tissue please

Glad to see you got it back togeather /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif maybe the new part is of a better alloy, I hope you have better luck anyway. Have you ever thought about a sacirfice to the Green tractor God's (other then your dealer or area rep.) to get them to smile on your wounded Deere. I was think something in orange? Just Kidding! Just Kidding! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually, I was just lookin at some Massey Fergusons,,,,oooops!!!

I dont mean to cut the 4300's short, maybe I just need a heavier duty machine, but I still cant figure why that turnbuckle keeps breaking /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Tractor all back together, Thanks er\'one

If you did get a MF, you wouldn't break the ears off of the housing any way. Because the housing doesn't have ears. The MF's have a bolt on axle bracket like larger tractors. But the again, you might break something else. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
