All I can say is "WOW!"

I've never used a walk-behind tiller --never had anything other than a small garden-- but did get a Mantis tiller, a "pull-type," a number of years ago, and it has done the job.

Recently, however, I had an opportunity to pick up a friend's SCUT-size 3PH collection: a 40" Woods Tiller, a 60" Woods back blade, and a King Kutter 60" landsacape rake.

Tried the tiller on our small garden for the first time today, after figuring out --for the first time-- just how to use the 3PH on my GC2310.

Amazing!! A fantastic job! No bogging down, and our teensy garden plot took all of about 10 minutes or less! And it's QUIET! (OK, I do have further plans for the tiller, not just for our hobby garden...:p)

I am just blown away. Once again, I find myself saying "I wish I'd bought this tractor years ago!!"

Using the Mantis, in addition to putting up with the 2-stroke noise and starting procedure (use it only twice a year, essentially), it took around one hour to do the garden properly. No more!

Now, on to the neighbor's house(s)!:D

This tractor just continues to amaze me with its capabilities.

Nice ! Now go pick those rocks !! I watch my neighbor do his and it's the most beautifully tilled garden i've ever seen. I wonder how many years it took him to get rid of every stone. Some day I'll have one myself.

Well, at least where our teensy garden is, there are no rocks....

Down below the main lawn (the "Project Area") will be a different story. Lots of trees --and stumps-- to remove, then the rocks!

And now I also understand what folks were talking about, regarding a way to hold the foldable ROPs at a half-way position- I'll have to do the same, or else put the ROPs up every time I use the 3PH and then down again to park it, so it doesn't hit the top link. Granted there will be times I'll want it up anyway, but for the most part I'll be on level ground when tilling.

Tilling our garden was only the first test. Here's what it looks like (and please--no laughing!):

That's nice soil, that tractor ought to do a fine job for you.

We've resorted to raised beds in rocky southwest Missouri...

duanekeys, that "soil" started out as all sand 25 years ago.... it's what was readily available for the backfill around the house, and I couldn't argue with the price, it was free--really!

But that spot has had at least 15 years of fallen leaves, composted cow manure, grass clippings, our own household compost, and even some topsoil added & tilled in. It's actually capable of growing stuff now!

If I can ever get the trees out down below, however, that soil should be fantastic... That's where we originally had our garden, plus a raised bed section. I'll just have to watch out for our NH rocks, which we have plenty of. Definitely not like BIL's place up around Kirksville!
