Just hope that you don't turn it over and get a splinter somewhere you don't want it.

Uh oh... Are those bolts I see going through the ROPS available because you drilled through the ROPS? If so, watch out as the ROPS police will be all over you (as it's a bad idea to drill into the ROPS).

I hope it works out over time (and rough ground) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I wood think a Hard Hat should also be considered. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the refreshing coments. I need to say the holes were predrilled by the manufacturer. White oak is not prone to splinter especially coated with paint. If it were to roll like any other canopy it will fold.
The best part is it was scrap it cost me nothing.

Think it's a good solution for a canopy. Probably stronger than a lot of the comercial ones. Probably cheaper too.

But do watch out for the canopy police checking on approval stickers.

Thanks
Yes I put a felt roll on top, gutters and down spout, and fuzzy dice on the edge and pink flamingos dangling on the sides. I got OSHA to approve the mods and now allow my employees to play chicken with the tractors.

Yes over the winter I built a large hay shed 40 X 66 and have some scrap lumber from taking down scaffolding. I try to build in the off season. I find a good stack of assorted oak and hickory to be very handy. The treated lumber doesnt always last and is not insect resistant as it should be. Out of dirt and water contact white oak seems to last as long as some of the poorly treated pine.

The canopy really does look good,I never though of a wooden canopy but I cannot see a thing wrong with having one, especially if it looked as good as the one you built.Thats one of the neat things about TBN,lots of neat/inovative and practical ideas here !!!

The canopy looks good, you did a nice job on it.

My only concern would be in a roll over situation what the outcome would be. Not so much that any canopy would be destroyed because most if not all would be but more so that the wood may crack and splinter becoming a spear. Metal/plastic/fiberglass would tend to bend where as wood would tend to splinter.

Of course keep it rubber side done and there is no problem.

Just my thoughts.
