seaweed is a great source of minerals and phytonutrients/enzymes. unfornately, here in the midwest, i have to buy it powdered by the bag, but i always mix about a cupful into every 6 cups of organic fertilizer.

if you're using fresh, be sure to rinse it first so you don't drive up the salt content of your soil. (unless planting salt tolerant veggies like asparagus).

i would imagine the whole pieces make a great mulch and supress the weeds pretty good.

The sea weed was rained on for 4-5 days before placing in garden... I figure the salt would be gone after that. We have had 3-4 weeks of rain and fog. I lost some stuff do to the rain. My wife bought plants for the deck and lost almost everything. Tonight we my be down to 3 degrees Celsius/36 Fahrenheit - middle of July!!!!!!!!!

This weather is nuts. Our summer neighbours(american) have had family visiting for the past 10 days - family reunion. Thank god they experienced our weather last year - I feel bad for them. Not our usual weather.

We have am old saying here... wait 5 minutes, the weather will change. Not true any more.

that was us last year with the rain. just kept comin.

raised beds are a major advantage in heavy rain. even six inches up out of the muck will keep a lot of plants alive until thngs dry out.

good luck! things will turn around soon. resow if you have to. just keep plugging away at it and harvest what grows. my experience is it's very rare for EVERYTHING you plant to do very well.

Lloyd, this morning the sun shines bright. A rare phenomena.:D

Most people are having garden problems. Some have had to replant up to three times due to the rain and cold.:(

amp and egon,

I actually looked at the sun with my eyes closed. We have not seen it for weeks.
Blue sky is amazing. I am trying to get as much done outside but my old(some what) bones are hurting.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one suffering... I do feel for the farmers though. This is supposed to last till Monday - woohoo!!!!
