Hi,
Not a big deal when you consider some of the outstanding home built stuff shared on this site, but here's what I've been up to.

I have a lawn tractor that I use to de-thatch and aerate my lawn. Also have been wanting to use it to move my utility trailer around, but the trailer has a regular ball hitch on it. So I finally got around to building a receiver hitch for the tractor. It's a 1.25" receiver. I'm now in the process of make a mount that will allow me to use my regular tractor implements.

Here's a couple of pics. There's a bolt on each side connecting support straps to the frame of the tractor. There's also a bolt on the bottom of the hitch that goes through the stock tractor hitch. It's pretty solid.

Doug

looks good
I did one recently myself, mine is a little higher. If yours is ever to low just flip the insert over and put the ball on top, you'll gain a couple of inches.

They are very useful for sure, you will be happy you did it. I only had the hole on the back for a ball but it was to low for my over the road utility trailer, It was only good for a lawn roller.
So I welded a 2 inch receiver to a piece of angle iron, and bolted that to existing holes on the back plate. I also made a contraption to hold tools, that slides into the hitch.

Don't go to far above axle. You will pull yourself over, that is why they are as low as they are.

Who is to say what a big deal is? We all build stuff that will make our lives easier, thats what it's all about. That hitch would do nothing for me as I don't have a small garden tractor, but then again some of the things others build ond post on here would be of absolutly no use to you if you can't or don't have a way to utilize them!
We all look at the thing others have built and think " that wouldn't work for me ....but if I modify it here or add something here it will be perfect for ...."such and such a Job.
A project is worth as much as it is to the guy or gal using it. Some may seem trivial. But to the person who made it or thought it up for someone else to build for them, it may be a real "back" or time saver!!!

Nice fab job. Just don't move the trailer up or down a significant grade. It's one thing to pull, but quite different to stop.

That hitch looks nice, Dougryan. I like how the hitch bolts onto the side. I've been wanting to mount a hitch to one of my little garden tractors. Your design looks real good. I may steal most or all of your idea.
